Sitting all day can pose a threat to your overall well being and in the most extreme cases, cause vein ruptures. And that can lead to a lack of oxygen supply and not to add to the drama, but death. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) refers to a blood clot that starts in a vein.

Actually, there are actual warnings given, because of VTE, if you stay glued to your seat during long flights (for example).

We just want to relay a few messages and takeaways to note in relation to VTE and how you should be conscience of moving around:
  • VTE affects even those individuals who are in good shape
  • The risk of VTE can be reduced by simply getting up and moving around
  • The more overweight the individual, the higher the risk
  • The older the individual, the higher the risk
  • But VTE can strike anyone at any moment, so if you are binge watching, working an office desk, or traveling - take measure to ensure you keep your body moving.
