Common Injuries that affect Flexibility (Range of Motion):

  • Bursitis – Inflammation of the bursa (soft fluid sacs that serve as a cushion between bones, tendons, and muscles around a joint). Factors that causes bursitis includes overuse of a joint, improper technique and posture, poor coordination and warm up before exercise, and/or abnormal joint or bone positioning.
  • Tendonitis – Inflammation or irritation of a tendon, usually resulting from direct injury. Increase in age and loss of elasticity has said to increase the risk.
  • Impingement Syndrome – Painful signals of a tendon between the bones of a joint. Most common is said to be shoulder impingement which occurs with repetitive overhead activities.
  • Fasciitis –Surface covering fascia (fibrous tissue) that becomes inflamed. Most common is said to be planta fasciitis which is caused by overload stress on the tissue.
