​Absorption Costing is more of a managerial accounting term. It simply states that all manufacturing costs whether it be fixed or variable, shall be classified with the cost to the product, or product costs. And in relation to SG&A costs, they be treated as period costs, or costs not linked to the direct material or manufacturing overhead.
